So I’m a few minutes away from going to bed and waking up to another first day of school. This is not just any ordinary day for me, though, because my first born, Caitlyn, will be starting kindergarten. Since I teach kindergarten, I won’t be able to show any emotion about her going off to her class for the first time. On my way home from church, my three year old and my husband were both asleep and I just watched Caitlyn in the mirror and floods of memories of her as a baby began flashing through my head. Then I saw her walking into her classroom with her little backpack and seeing her turn around waving goodbye. At that point, I knew that it was time to show the emotion I won’t be able to come tomorrow morning. I silently cried…tears streaming down my face as I watched my little girl grow up before my eyes. She hasn’t walked into that classroom yet, but I knew that I would have to mask it tomorrow for my students coming into my room. She never knew I was crying for her; I didn’t want her to think I was sad. I began connecting it to leaving her with a sitter for the first time. I remember she was a little over 1 year old. I was beginning to take a full load at UNT and I dropped her off and listened to her cry as I walked away. I walked down that sidewalk, which though it wasn’t a long sidewalk, it seemed like a mile. I cried hysterically and called my mom and my then boyfriend, now husband, Jonathan.

When I found out I was pregnant, I thought my world was going to crash around me. I didn’t understand what loving someone before you knew them meant. Then I saw that little face (which was pouting no less) staring at me, and I fell truly in love with her. I was a single mom her first year of life. It was just me and her, so I find this extremely hard. Tomorrow…I have to plaster the smile on my face, feel my heart break, wipe the tears quickly from my face, and head to my class. My little girl is growing up. She is now a kindergartener!

So, we decided (well, actually, I decided) that we should skip service to get a head start on school shopping on tax free weekend. We started out at Collin Creek Mall, in which Caitlyn was a little upset that we were going to buy jeans for her…don’t know why. While we were there, we asked Faith if she still wanted to get her ears pierced, and she said yes. So we headed to Claire’s where she proceeded to get in the chair. As I watched them get her ready, I thought, “If my three year old can get up there, I can, too!” So I got my ears re-pierced with Faith! It was awesome! We did LOTS more shopping while Ryan and Jonathan were working on their home office. We got back to find them starting to mix concrete to level their floor. As Jonathan was coming outside, he stepped on a brick and sliced his toe. Yes, it was gross. It reminded me of that commerical on radio where the kid calls Care Now ahead of time because they just KNOW something will happen with their dad, then dad gets hurt and the kid goes, “MOM! Care Now just called…” and as you hear dad screaming, she says, “Tell ‘em we’re on our way!”. Yes, that is how I felt!

I had a GREAT time shopping with the girls (mom, Brooke, Caitlyn, and Faith).

I’ll post pictures of the ear piercing when I get ‘em!

So…here we go. Jonathan has not found a job yet AND we still have not received his final paycheck. We were introduced to a job that we could both do to make some extra cash, so we thought we would give it a try. the girls, once again, are at my parents house (which by the way, tears me up a lot) so we could go and make some serious cash. Yes, we made 24 dollars last night. We didn’t even get to fill up the car, BUT it was more than what we would have made sitting home. We have to work a double header today and then a game tomorrow night.

I have TONS to do and have no time to do it. I feel like there is so much to do around the house, in my classroom, for my incoming class, and I still need to make Thank You cards for everyone that gave me gifts!!! I thought I would be a good girl and stay up last night when we got home to do it…WRONG! I was so sore and exhausted that I crawled to bed.

Jonathan said he wanted to get up and go with me to help me in my classroom, but as usual, we get ready to go this morning, and I can just TELL he doesn’t want to go. Now I feel guilty for him going; he said he wants to go help, though. We’ll see what happens.

I must skee daddle because I hear keys jingling…must be time to go!

So Jonathan and I have had a very interesting day. We are going to work concessions at a minor league baseball game tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday for extra money. My dad came over to watch the girls and then took me to Lowe’s and bought some containers for me and some other stuff for Jonathan. Then the weirdest thing happened. Jonathan was in a bad mood. So, at first I thought I would just ignore the situation, but it was getting to me and I decided to go work in my classroom. I wasn’t going to do that this week, but I had taken my dad up there to get measurements and my team has done a lot so far (and it bothers me because I’m usually the one that is one step ahead). So, I went up there and took Caitlyn with me. HEHE! That was fun. She got bored REALLY quick. I got her coloring, reading, and putting puzzles together. I even had her help me with some stuff, but I kept getting REALLY distracted. I will go back tomorrow with a plan of action so I don’t get too sidetracked!! I’ll post pictures of how the room is coming along.

We went to the store and guess what happened while we were there. It began to pour. Love the rain, don’t get me wrong, it just sucks trying to get the kids in the car and groceries in the back. Thank goodness Jonathan was there or I don’t know what I would have done!!

So…Jonathan had mentioned that I would have to wait until Saturday to receive my final birthday gift and we would need to find babysitters (AKA my parents). I had asked Brooke if she knew anything and she did…but couldn’t tell me about it…DANG IT! Well, last night Jonathan drives to the Parker Dart Rail and then all of a sudden asks me to come over to a private area to “make out”. In reality, he was hiding me so I wouldn’t see my first surprise. As I come around the corner, I see Ryan and Brooke walking towards me. That was so incredibly AWESOME!

We went to this upscale restaurant in Dallas called Fuse. If you don’t know me yet, let me just say this. I am a picky eater. I was presented the menu in which the appetizer consisted of two choices: sushi or duck. Have I EVER tried these? No and for good reason, so I thought. I ended up ordering the duck, which turned out good! The best thing was the drink. I love me some margaritas. Their ritas, however, had sake instead of tequila. DUDE! Those were tasty! I woke up with a really bad headache this morning, though Anyway, as dessert hits the table, I was told we needed to hurry. You mean…this wasn’t the only surprise??? No. We were going to go see Joel McHale from E’s “The Soup”. LOVE THAT SHOW! Hillarious!

Let’s see…when it was over, Jonathan let me wear his shoes because my high heels were KILLING me! He opts to wear my high heels instead. Yes, there are pictures!!

Then, we hit up a pub because I was hungry. Yes, I said it! HUNGRY! We paid a bunch of money for dinner, but though the food was incredible (even the duck), there didn’t seem to be very much of it. I want to go back to Fuse and then try out the rooftop pool and hot tub!

All in all, I loved every second of every minute of last night. I truly have had the best birthday ever! Ryan, Brooke, and Josh…thank you for coming and making last night so truly special for me. I had the best time EVER! Love you guys!

Alright…so I do have lots of things going on in my young life. Wait…young?!? I’m the “elder”. Anyway, like I was saying, I have lots of things in my life. I have a husband who is ADHD, a daughter who is Miss Drama, and another daughter who is also believed to have ADHD. Plus, I teach kindergarten. As I am writing this, I’m thinking how stupid I sound, but Jonathan has convinced me otherwise. It was brought to my attention that I should start a blog. Now, I blog on my myspace, but not that much because there are things I would like to say, but not let some of my myspace friends see it. So, as a birthday present to me my friend, Ryan, created this blog site for me as a present. Thank you, “Mr. Ryan”!

So, just to warn you ahead of time…you’ll be hearing about my husband, Jonathan, quite a bit. He makes life fun around the house. You will probably also hear about my oldest, Caitlyn, who is about to start kindergarten in about 2 1/2 weeks (give or take), and then you will most definitely hear about Faith. Faith is our little miracle because we almost lost her at 2 weeks old. So no matter what she does or how upset I get at her, I can never be TRULY upset with her because I have to step back and think what if she hadn’t made it.

I am so blessed to have Ryan and Brooke as friends. My birthday has truly been the best ever. As your “elder”, I thank you. I have already had my time with my new bible and I’m truly excited to see what the next year holds. Love you guys!!!
